Overview

THE TEAM

TFH will send one or two teams (maximum of 18 athletes, minimum of 14 athletes per team) to tour Auckland (for roughly 4 days), tour Melbourne (for roughly 3 days) and Sydney (for roughly 9 days). We will train, play local representative clubs and school teams, and to participate in the Hockeyfest Tournament at Homebush Park in Sydney (site of the 2000 Sydney Olympic games).

THE TOUR AT A GLANCE

The Australia & New Zealand Tour offers a great mix of both field hockey and sight seeing throughout our stay in Australia and New Zealand. We will have plenty of time to visit tourist sites including museums, zoos, the beach, both the Commonwealth and Olympic grounds, and much more. We will combine our sight seeing with several training sessions and matches vs. local club teams prior to participating in HockeyFest. And yes, we will have some time to do some shopping!

THE TOURNAMENT

The Hockeyfest Tournament attracts an exceptionally high level of competition with teams participating from countries such as Japan, USA, Canada, South Africa, Holland, Belgium, England, Hong Kong, and Australia.

The tournament takes an 8-team format where each team plays the other seven teams in pool play during the first 3 days. At the end of the pool play, the top 4 teams play for the Cup, and the bottom 4 teams play for the Trophy. Each team will play nine matches over the five days of the tournament. All games are played on the two Olympic water based artificial turf fields.

REGISTRATION

Registration is on a first come first serve basis. Register early to guarantee yourself a spot as we reached tour capacity for our 2005 Australia Girls Tour and had to turn athletes away.
