Overview

THE TEAM

A maximum of 8 (minimum of 6) male athletes and a maximum of 8 (minimum of 6) female athletes ages 18 and over to travel down to Barbados to play in the social division of one of the largest (if not the largest) field hockey festivals in the Western Hemisphere: The Banks Barbados Hockey Festival.

You do not have to be an all-star field hockey player to take part in this tour. The Mixed Social Banks Barbados Hockey Festival balances a soild level of hockey and a fantastic social atmosphere in 28 degree Celsius Barbados sunshine!

THE TOUR AT A GLANCE

Want to balance good hockey, good camaraderie, good social events and white sand beaches? If your answer is yes then The Banks Barbados Hockey Festival is for you!

Social events are as crucial a part of the Banks Barbados Hockey Festival as the hockey is. Social events range from parties, to parties. Be aware that the flat Banks Beer (main tournament sponsor) that you drink the night before a match is no excuse not performing on the field the following day. If you can't perform off the field the chances are that you won't be able to perform on the field. You must be able to take part in all required social activities (oh yes - and the field hockey matches as well).

PROPOSED TRAVEL PLAN

August 13th - Depart Vancouver
August 14th - Arrive in Barbados
August 15 to August 17th - Pre-tour social training (potential practices)
August 17 to August 23rd - Tournament Matches (and evening social events)
August 24th - Depart Barbados to Vancouver

THE TOURNAMENT

The Banks Barbados Hockey Festival attract over 70 teams from around the World (Caribbean, Europe, USA, Asia etc) to take part in the week long hockey festival. Each team is guaranteed four days of hockey up to a max of seven days of hockey (depending how well you do). Matches are played on both grass and artificial turf fields. Pool play of 4 to 6 teams play off from Sunday to Wednesday with pool winners going though to the semi-finals on the Friday and finals on the Saturday.
